Ana Luiza has considerable experience in counseling children, young people and adults as well as patients of chronic diseases. Alongside her private clinic, she has worked in a variety of therapeutic contexts including major government medical institutions such as Hospital da Lagoa and Santa Casa da Misericórdia, both in Rio de Janeiro.
Since her graduation in Psychology from USU-Rio (Universidade Santa Ursula, Rio de Janeiro) in 1990, Ana Luiza has specialized in juvenile counseling as well as in issues related to chronic illnesses.

In the year 2000, during a course of formation in Family Therapy, at the ITF/RJ, Ana got acquainted with the Narrative Therapy and initiated studies of clinical cases from this new approach, taking into consideration how the several perspectives and narratives of the system intertwine since the beginning of a chronic illness.

Together with psychologist Lúcia Helena Assis Abdalla, Ana Luiza Novis engaged in the research of “the Systemic Brief Intervention as a significant complementation in the Therapeutic of Chronic Patients” - SCM/RJ/2000.

Ana also has considerable experience supervising other practitioners, and has participated in the implementation of the service of Medical Psychology in a renowned clinic in Rio de Janeiro. A specialist in Family Psycho-education, with a project on Bipolar Humor Disorder CMI/CSV/RJ, her experience includes the organization of the service of evaluation and treatment of patients/family during the detox process, focusing on family psycho-education, for a rehab clinic in Rio.

At present, Ana is engaged in the research project Recycling Minds - Health, investigating the results of the approach to counseling of the Narrative Therapy with patients of Multiple Sclerosis.
